ARE YOU AN EFFECTIVE SIGN?

This morning (December 28 1999), I feel the Lord asked me a question. So that He could get me to think. The question was "What kind of a sign are you"? And then He began to remind me of two particular signs I have seen over the past few years.

  Over the years I have seen many signs, signs on the roads and big lit up signs on buildings. But this morning I feel the Lord was drawing my attention to remember two signs in particular, and asked me which of these two signs actually did the best job of pointing its readers in the right direction?

The first sign He reminded me of was a few years ago I went to a big crusade in the USA. And on the outside of the stadium in bright lights and attention getting lights were the words;

Miracle Crusade, with Rev............... performing  Signs and Wonders.

 Then the other sign He brought to my memory was an old ragged sign that was badly faded, and out on an old country road in central Ontario. It was out on the edge of an old farm, and had very little to offer in appearance, and on it was written in simple faded black paint something like this;

Feel alone and hopeless, like the world is coming down on you. Smile and rejoice for there is one who really loves you, His name is Jesus. And through His surrender to the cross, He made a statement.  I would rather die than live without (fill in your name). " Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." But the name of JESUS.

I believe the Lord was asking me, what kind of a sign will you be? Even as you get old and grey and kind of worn. Will the message of your words and life point people to Jesus or something (or someone) else? It's not how good I (we) look, but how good He (Jesus) looks that counts. Only Jesus can give eternal life, and He is the One who needs to be known and not us. All the words in the world could never completely tell and show a complete picture of His awesome Love to every man and woman. For He is a Love that surpasses human understanding. His grace and kindness, go deeper than any sea, His mercy exceeds the ends of the earth. And only His Precious Blood can wash us clean of our sins. And give us an eternal destiny with our Father in heaven. Jesus is the beginning and end of everything good, and He gave it all to us because He loved us. There is no greater love, there is no greater joy, than to know that He who formed us in our mothers womb, Loves us with an everlasting Love from above. And His greatest illustration of this Love was His Son hung on a cross, for you and for me! He took our place, because sin demands the payment of death and Jesus said to the Father.  I Love them so, let me pay the price and make them whiter than snow.
